Firstly, Halloween is a celebration on the night of October 31st. It is most practiced in the United States and Canada. ... For Christians it is the eve of All Hallows Day, which begins the three-day observance of All hallow tide.

Secondly, the night of 31 October, the eve of All Saints' Day, often celebrated by children dressing up in frightening masks and costumes. Halloween is thought to be associated with the Celtic festival Samhain, when ghosts and spirits were believed to be abroad.

Thirdly, all halloween, all hallows eve or all saints eve is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day.

Fourthly, Halloween is the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows Day (also known as All Saints or Hallowmas) on 1 November and All Souls Day on 2 November, thus giving the holiday on 31 October the full name of All Hallows Eve (meaning the evening before All Hallows Day).

Lastly, all Hallows Eve falls on 31st October each year, and is the day before All Hallows Day, also known as All Saints Day in the Christian calendar.
