A terrible day at the pools

Have you ever swallowed chlorine water before? If you haven’t you will soon find out how it feels and what it taste like.

One hot day I went to the wave pools with my friends. We wanted to get there early so there wasn’t a big queue. We all woke up at 8:00 and met everyone at the shop. We walked as fast as a cheetah on its hind legs. We didn’t get to the pools until 9:20. But that's ok because there was no one there and the waves didn’t start till 10:30 so it gave us time to get changed into our togs.

We all walked excitedly and dived into the cold relaxing water. We had a few swimming races. I came out of the water exhausted. But then something weird was happening. The water was moving back and forward over and over again. But not so long after it was getting harder and rougher. Not until I realized it was the waves bad luck for me because I was on the deep side.

I heard my friend from the shallow side scream” watch out behind you”. I turned around and there was a humongous wave behind me. The wave had swallowed me underneath it. I tried not to open my mouth so no water could come in. but it was too late, I had already opened my mouth because I needed to breathe and I was struggling to get back up and breathe.

Every time I came up for a 15 second breath I would get shoved back down. I swam as fast as a seal getting chased by a shark. As I swam I could see the ground getting closer to my face. But no the thing was that I was getting closer to the ground. I took a gulp, oh no I had swallowed chlorine. It tasted so gross and dry but I couldn’t really describe what it tasted like. I scrunched my nose with disgust. Not so long after water had gone up my nose. Even though I was underwater, I could feel  tiny tears in my eyes. It stung like a bee. I swam as fast as possible too the shallow side.

I closed my eyes all the way there. As soon as I blinked I was on the shallow side. That’s probably the last time I ever went to the pools.
