Recount Writing

It was just a regular Friday afternoon, where it felt like the sun would no longer shine. Outside, it was dark like how you would see it in a scary movie.

I glanced outside and saw that a few water drops were falling down from the sky and gently landing on the leaves thinking that the rain would stop. But then all of a sudden it just started to rain harder, the clouds started to cover the sky, but they weren’t just regular white clouds they were dark grey clouds. The wind started howling and the leaves scattered across the concrete.

The house shook for a few seconds, my heart felt struck with fear. I hoped that I was hallucinating in my head. I kept repeating to myself I’m just seeing things. But then a tree from just down the road had snapped and fell onto the side of the road. The drain was flooded with leaves and water started too flood the road.

At my house there was at least four steps to go into my house and the water had reached the second step. My two brothers decided to splash around wetting each other thinking it was funny, a few seconds later thunder struck across the sky.

I lead myself to the dining room table with my phone. I sat as quiet as a mouse checking out a few youtube videos. But then all of a sudden I saw a flash on the corner of my eye, I thought someone had taken a photo of me but really it was lighting, It was as bright as a flashlight and the same size as one too. I quickly closed the curtains and made my way into my room.

Our hallway seemed very dark. My room looked as dark as a forest. I looked outside and saw that a few trees had fallen onto other people’s property. I didn’t know what to do. My mind was just focused on the storm.
Suddenly, I realised the wifi wasn’t working, I quickly went to check if the lights we're working but they weren’t and I realised that the power went out. I waited a couple of minutes and suddenly the wifi turned back on and the storm stopped.

I was so delighted that the storm had departed. This was one of the worst storms I’ve ever been through and I hope in the future there will never be one like this again.
